If there is one place on this earth that I love just as much as being by the sea its being in the desert. Earlier this year, myself and some friends jumped in a Mercedes G wagon (ultimate car, ultimate everything) sped through the Mojave Desert blasting Fleetwood mac… pinching ourselves the entire time. With a few wrong turns and a couple of pit stops later we crossed the boarder of Nevada and California, through Joshua tree and into the coolest, funkiest town- Palm Springs, ahead of Coachella.
The Mojave Desert is said to be a metaphysical and spiritual mecca where people come to Zen out, write music, or simply vibe. There is something so hypnotic about the Mojave Desert and its hidden natural abundance. Maybe this is why I have such an attraction to it.
It's also one place I can totally overdo my wanderlustin’ gypsy lifestyle, Go totally wild, dress however I please and find myself asking the big life questions that I never seem to have the answers too.
I’ve spent so many days getting lost in the Mojave desert, but the day featured below is a particular favourite. Maybe because I have my lucky charm, my silver wide brim fedora from Lack of Colors, which has survived being dragged across America. My leather Zimmermann boots and an embroidered lace dress- because why not.
All my recommendations about how to conquer the Mojave desert are coming soon to travel series, so stay tuned.
For now, check out my photo diary of that one day in the Mojave.
